Is it possible to display confidence yet remain humble as a woman?

Being involved in many hiring interviews or working a long way in the professional development of other employees, I have recognized, that women are less likely to ask for a rise, a better title, more power, or responsibility.

As girl I was also taught to stay humble:

✖ not to be too proud

✖ not to be too “loud”

✖ not to share powerfully my thoughts

✖ not to be too much….

And it seems like people quickly confuse confidence with arrogance when a woman asks for more.

And honestly, it took me years to get comfortable with this topic and learn to ask for more or for something better. And although there is still sometimes this tiny voice inside me that tells me that I should be grateful for what I have or that I have to stay humble, I have learned to take the responsibility into my own hands.

It might seem ridiculous since I have to do a lot of negotiation in my daily business: in recruiting, salary negotiation, contract negotiation, negotiation with line managers, business partners, candidates, and so on. But believe me or not, it is much easier for me to negotiate on behalf of others, like for a better deal for the company I work for, for promoting a talented junior worker, for my colleagues, my friends, rather than for myself.

I have worked a lot to go from self-doubt to self-confidence and fulfillment.

Here are some tactics and positive affirmations, that help me to stay confident and to tackle my goals, that I want to share with you:

🌟 Recognize and celebrate your own achievements. It is ok to do so.

🌟 It’s acceptable to ask. If you don’t ask, you will never know the right answer.

🌟 You have the power to determine the shape of your career. For example, if you see the projects you want to work on, then ask. Don’t wait to see whether you will be assigned to it or not.

Our recruitment approach is designed to attract the best talent, regardless of their gender, origin, language, age, disability, sexual orientation or religious beliefs.

However we believe, that there is much more we can do to support women in the workforce. Since women are currently underrepresented in fields experiencing job growth, such as finance, banking and information technology, we put additional effort in recruiting and empowering more women in these fields.

If you need a professional advise how to negotiate better contract/ better salary or just simply woman-to-woman support during recruiting process,
